The Oz'Nihead Cluster

Introduction

The Oz'Nihead Cluster is a campaign setting for the World of Mists. Each of the five inhabitable worlds has come to be dominated by one civilisation, though some of them are just alliances, and now they are reaching for the stars. Recent breakthrough in magical research have enabled space travel. Strange ships sail in the void between the stars, were, for the first time, the people of the five worlds realise they are not alone. None currently have the power to invade another planet.

The inhabitants of the Five Worlds have even reached the limits of their sphere and started to colonise another, but they are not alone in space. Ancient civilisations, both benign and malicious watch these new upstarts with suspision, or outright greed. It seems that the old tales of the horrors that dwell in the darkness between the stars might have been true. The Oz'Nihead cluster is at the brink of invasion. Both Neogi and Illithids have turned their greedy eyes towards the weak colonies and the Five Worlds, and there may by others even worse.

Davona

Beneath the often dark skies of Davaona lives a species of grim reputation and slow black blood, whose homes, grown from strange trees and surrounded by carefully tended fields, seem strangely quaint. There is a strange and hard to understand cohesion between the myriad of small nations, baronies and kingdoms of the world. Their presence in space is small, but forceful. So far people from Davona are mostly known to appear in battles against the alien invaders in the nick of time and turn the tide. The goverments of the other worlds suspect, they are up to something at a grand scale, but without information everything remains speculation.

Kastanar

The world of Kastanar is Fertile in spite of its heat, providing sustenance for a large population of humans, who have to share their home with few other sentient beings. The merchants of Kastanar took to space as first of the mortal races of Oz'Nihead, but today they have the least organised presence. The ancient (and unfair) caste system, combined with the mistrust the nobility has for common people, led to this. Commoners from Kastanar often become crew members on ships from other nations, or those of adventureres.

Lilian

At a first glance the world of Lilian with its picturesque castles, palaces and chalets seems even more backward than Kastanar. Closer inspection reveals that their society is highly dynamic and prestige is measured by actual influence, rather than heritage. Most of the nobles, however, are fey (the ancient guardians of the world), or have at least some fey blood in their veins. Thus it is likely, that influential families will retain their position for a long time. When they realised the threats from outside, they took to space with great enthusiam and surprising success.

Silicar

The hostile jungles of Silicar are home to two ferocious species, the fierce cat-like Rak'ra, who have organised themselves in rich trading houses and the cold-blooded, reptilian and militaristic Iagnar. Both independently maintain their own fleets and presence in space, mostly avoiding each other, as they do on the ground, making outsiders wonder, how it is possible for those two vastly different species to co-exist peacefully.

Unidar

Unidar is ruled by dwarves. They are fair, but a bit harsh, if you ask most of the other races of the world, who have made an alliance with them. Renown for the best education system of all the worlds, many who can afford it (such as the nobles of Lilian) send their adolescents to the famed Universities of Unidar. The people of Unidar took to space relatively late, but with great success, due to the great resources and the number of educated people available. Their crews are known to be the most disciplined and effective of Oz'Nihead.
