Introduction
Welcome to the world of Sak Dakyb, my "standard" fantasy world. While this is not the most complex or sophisticated setting I have ever created, it is a good entry point to my vision of fantasy, mostly inspired by Robert E. Howard and, of course, Dungeouns & Dragons. Essentially it is really just another standard world for heroic fantasy, but with a few twists from my own warped mind. The following sections will point put some of the (technical) changes compared to a d20 Core Rules Campaign.
Magic and Magic Items
Actually the setting will not massively mess with the magic rules, even though there may be some new spellcasting classes. On the other hand, magic items are a lot less common, than a standard campaign seems to assume. There are no magic items with just an enhancement bonus, except for bracers of armour, amulets of natural armour und rings of protection (because they are the only reason scantily clad guys and girls make any sense). The idea is, that magic is far more strongly tied to special enchantments and natural people. Even a high-level character will only have one, two or three permanent magic items.
Classes
All the basic classes are modified for the Sak Dakyb campaign to take the things mentioned above into account. Basically more power from class abilities and less dependency on magic items. Those classes will still basically do the same things and put characters into the same role, but I hope I can come up with something that is a bit more interesting and flexible.
30 Levels
Basic classes will have thirty levels, because it simply takes more levels to achieve the same amount of power without the suggested equipment. (Almost half a characters power and up to +5 of important bonus values comes from magic items in a standard D&D campaign). Additionally I never liked the arbitrary epic level transition, which should have been far smoother. Prestige classes will have at least ten levels, or even as many as twenty.
Epic Play
There is no epic attack bonus in a Sak Dakyb game, though all the classes use the epic save progression. All the epic feats will have actual prerequisites (but they can only be defined, when I am done with the basic classes), rather than the 20th level threshold. The transition is more smooth and there are still challenges and several epic npc in the world.
